TU Berlin Scholarships 2026: Fully Funded DAAD/STIBET No IELTS

Why TU Berlin is a Hidden Gem for International Students

If you’ve ever dreamed of studying in Germany without worrying about tuition fees, blocked accounts, or endless language tests, the TU Berlin Scholarship is an opportunity you should not miss. Berlin is not only Germany’s capital but also its heart of innovation, research, and diverse international student life.

What makes this scholarship special? You don’t need an IELTS if you meet certain conditions, there’s no application fee, and you get access to a globally respected education system with the benefits of Schengen travel — all while living in one of Europe’s coolest student cities.

Who Can Apply?

The TU Berlin Scholarship 2025 is open to students from all countries except Germany. So whether you’re from South Asia, Africa, the Middle East, or Latin America — you can apply for Bachelor’s, Master’s, and even PhD programs under this funding scheme.

One major plus point: you don’t have to show proof of huge bank balances like many German public universities require. The scholarship covers tuition and living expenses, so you can focus on your studies.

Application Deadline & Key Dates

Timing is critical. The application portal opened on 16 June 2025 and stays open only until 15 July 2025. After that, it closes for the full funding round.

The selection results will be announced from end of July to early October. If you’re selected, your official offer letter and scholarship documents will be dispatched around December 2025. Classes will start between December and February 2026.

So plan carefully: gather all required documents well before the final date so you don’t miss out because of last-minute glitches.

How Many Scholarships Are Available?

TU Berlin has made 120 fully funded scholarships available for 2025–2026. This is a significant number compared to many European programs that might offer only a handful of slots.

This means your chances are realistic if your documents are complete, your motivation is clear, and you follow the steps properly.

Which Departments Are Covered?

The beauty of the TU Berlin Scholarship is its wide range. Almost all major disciplines are included:

  • Aeronautics
  • Architecture
  • Building Sciences
  • Business Administration
  • Computer Science
  • Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil)
  • Natural Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics)
  • Social Sciences
  • Artificial Intelligence and many more.

If your field is taught at TU Berlin, chances are you’re eligible.

What Does the Scholarship Cover?

This is not a partial scholarship. It’s fully funded. It covers:

  • Full tuition fee waiver
  • Monthly stipend for living expenses
  • Health insurance
  • Return airfare
  • Sometimes extra allowances for study materials

This means you won’t have to pay tuition fees or arrange for a blocked account — a huge relief for many students.

Documents Required — What You Must Prepare

Before you rush to apply, prepare these documents properly:

  • Motivation Letter: 1–2 pages, clear and powerful. Explain why you want to study at TU Berlin, why you’re a good fit, and how this degree aligns with your goals.
  • CV: Should be in Europass format — max 2 pages.
  • Transcript of Records: Official, clear, and translated if not in English or German.
  • Recommendation Letter(s): Not mandatory but highly recommended. If you include them, they must be signed and stamped — unsigned letters will be rejected.

These documents decide whether you’ll be shortlisted. A weak or copy-pasted motivation letter is the number one reason good students get rejected. So write yours honestly or get help from experts if needed — but never plagiarize.

Step-by-Step Guide to Apply

Here’s exactly how to apply, based on the official portal instructions:

Step 1: Open the Application Call
First, open the official Call for Applications page on TU Berlin’s site. Carefully read the instructions and deadlines.

Step 2: Go to the Application Portal
Scroll down and click the link to the Application Portal. This is where you’ll register and submit your documents.

Step 3: Register Your Account
Click Register. Select your title (Mr, Ms, Mx), enter your first and last name, email, and create a secure password. Your password must be at least 12 characters long, with at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase, one number, and one special character.

Step 4: Confirm Your Email
Check your inbox for the confirmation link. Click it to activate your account.

Step 5: Log In Again
Log in with your new credentials. If you’re already registered, just log in directly.

Step 6: Choose Your Track
Once inside, choose whether you’re applying for German students or International — you’ll pick International.

Step 7: Fill Out Your Personal Information
Enter your name, date of birth, nationality, email address, city, country, and any other required contact details.

Further Steps

Step 8: Academic Info
State whether you’re starting a new degree or continuing. Select Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD. Pick your faculty and specialization. Fill out your previous study details: degree type, university, dates, grades, and upload your transcripts.

Step 9: Upload Required Files
Upload your CV, motivation letter, transcripts, and recommendation letters (if you have them).

Step 10: Family & Funding Info
Fill out the additional questions about family circumstances and any other funding you receive. If you’re not receiving other scholarships, just mark “No”.

Step 11: Write the Online Motivation Section
In the online portal, you’ll also have to write a short motivation section (1500 characters) explaining why this scholarship matters to you, why you’re a good candidate, and how it will help your studies and future plans.

Step 12: Review and Submit
Double-check everything. Once you’re confident, click Submit. You’ll get a confirmation email.

When Will You Get Results?

If shortlisted, you’ll be notified by end of July or early October. Keep an eye on your email and spam folder. If selected, your scholarship documents will arrive in December 2025 or January 2026, and your classes will begin soon after.

No IELTS? Here’s What It Means

One of the biggest plus points is no mandatory IELTS. If your last degree was taught in English, you can usually submit a certificate from your university instead. Always check the specific department’s rules — but TU Berlin is known for accepting alternative English proof.

Important Tips to Avoid Rejection

Thousands of students lose their chance every year for silly mistakes. Here’s what you must avoid:

  • Submitting after the deadline — even 1 minute late is rejected.
  • Sending a generic motivation letter.
  • Not checking your email for the confirmation link.
  • Uploading an unsigned recommendation letter.
  • Missing pages in your transcripts.

Take 2–3 days to check every file twice!

What Happens If You Don’t Win This Year?

Don’t lose hope. TU Berlin and many other German universities open new fully funded calls every year. If you miss this one or don’t get selected, work on your documents, get stronger recommendations, improve your motivation letter — and reapply next year. Many students get in on their second try.
